Royal Diwali Gala

We had the privilege of providing coverage for the Royal Diwali Gala. This amazing event was organized by the beautiful members of the Guelph Punjabi Cultural Group.

The sold out crowd gathered at the Hanlon Convention Centre to celebrate Diwali and raise money to benefit the Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington. One of the most celebrated and anticipated events of the year, Diwali is the annual Hindu festival of lights that is spiritually celebrated to signify the victory of light over darkness.

The crowd, mostly from the region with some from across Ontario, arrived dressed in elegant and colourful gowns. The guest were treated to a night of fun entertainment, dancing, games, prizes and a buffet of delicious Indian cuisine, which was provided by Spice Roots.

Also in attendance was the mayor of Guelph, Cam Guthrie, who helped hand out some prizes as well as pose for pictures with some of the nights' performers.

A lot of the success was made possible by the many sponsors that contributed to the event, as well as ticket sales. The Gala raised over $11,000 for the Children's Foundation.
